The Perfect Combination, Apple Pie Cupcakes

Cupcakes never seem to go out of fashion, but unless it’s my imagination, their popularity seems to have exploded in recent years, which companies opening stores selling nothing but these delicious treats in various flavours and concoctions. In terms of other popular treats the humble apple pie is still my personal favourite, so when I discovered this recipe to make apple pie cupcakes, I knew I had found the perfect combination. On a cold winters day or even an the end of a long summer day, apple pies and cupcakes just hit that perfect sweet spot.

When you discover how stunningly simple these two are to combine and when you see the finished product, your mouth will be watering. The ingredients are really easy to obtain, and the entire baking process only takes ten to twelve minutes, with a little advice to allow the finished items a few minutes to cool down before savouring their delectable taste. Whether or not you will be able to resist long enough for them to cool down is an entirely different matter. APPLE PIE CUPCAKES

INGREDIENTS
– 2 diced granny smith apples
– Brown sugar
– Cinnamon
– 1 tube cinnamon rolls

Topping:
– 1/4 cup brown sugar
– 1/4 cup flour
– 2 tbsp. cubed butter

DIRECTIONS

1. Melt butter in a skillet.
2. Add the diced apples and let them soften.
3. Add brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix well.
4. In a separate bowl, add brown sugar, flour, and cubed butter. Mix to make to the cinnamon topping.
5. Open the tube of cinnamon rolls and flatten the rolls into 4 inch rounds.
6. Spray a muffin tin with non-stick spray and place each round into the muffin tin.
7. Add a dollop of the apple mixture into each cinnamon roll crust, topping it off with the cinnamon topping.
8. Bake at 400 F. for 10-12 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before topping with whipped cream, caramel sauce, or other toppings.
