I don’t know about you, but I think that a great piece of cake simply makes a meal worth eating. In fact, sometimes I don’t even need a meal in order to enjoy a piece of cake. Cake comes in all different shapes and sizes but I think that I found a recipe that is going to be a personal favorite and it will be a favorite of yours as well.
This is a black forest dump cake and it is extremely easy to make. You simply throw everything into a baking dish and before you know it, it comes out of the oven ready to eat. Simply throw a scoop of ice cream on top and a few extra cherries and you will be ready for cake nirvana.
Ingredients:
1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
1 can (15 ounces) pitted dark sweet cherries, undrained
1 box chocolate cake mix
1/2 cup sliced almonds
3/4 cup butter, cubed
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Spread pie filling into a greased 9×13-inch. baking dish, then top with undrained cherries. Sprinkle evenly with cake mix and almonds. Top with cubed butter.
Bake 40-50 minutes or until topping is set. Serve warm or at room temperature.
