In this ever more health conscious world, frying your food as a cooking method is frowned upon by the experts, but unfortunately there is something so special about fried food and how it tastes. And I always say that the occasional treat here and there is perfectly fine, just don’t get into the habit of eating fried food on a daily basis. The batter that we can add to certain fried foods has rarely changed in years. Everyone always uses all purpose flour, and whilst that tastes delicious this idea from chef Thomas Joseph gives us a new method for our batter making. I am no doctor so I don’t know if it is actually physically better for you than the old method, but it is always nice to experiment and try something that little bit different and unusual.
Thomas’s method is to use club soda rather than all purpose flour. As you will see from the video below the food looks absolutely gorgeous, and there is no difference in terms of effort or preparation time. Having tried it, I can vouch for the taste, it really is delicious. Be brave and try something a little different tonight, you won’t regret it.
