Elise uses peanut butter in her recipe since that’s the classic flavor of Reese’s, but this recipe could be easily tweaked for people who suffer from peanut allergies. One of my best friends is allergic to peanuts and has complained for years about how Reese’s should make cups with other nut butters.
I’m sure if you know anyone who’s allergic to peanuts you’ve had a very similar conversation at some point in time. Making these cups at home allows you to experiment with other flavors such as almond butter, sunflower butter, or cashew butter depending on your own personal tastes.
Recipe:
600g / 21oz powdered sugar, sifted
600g / 21oz smooth peanut butter
100g / 3.5oz softened, salted butter
750g / 26oz melted milk chocolate
Note: make sure this is Compound chocolate so it sets (it shouldn’t list Cocoa Butter as an ingredient).
