How to Make a Scotch Egg

In many cases, it is the simple food that is the most delicious and it is what we remember from our younger days. That may be the case with the Scotch egg, a simple pub food that many of us may have snacked on in the past. If you haven’t tried a Scotch egg recently, you really owe it to yourself to make them because there is nothing quite like it.

Ingredients:
1 lb. raw ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
4 hard-boiled eggs
3 Tbsps. flour
1 uncooked egg
1 cup panko bread crumbs
1 Tbsp. sour cream
1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 Tbsps. mayonnaise

Directions:
In a large bowl, combine beef, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
Form meat mixture into four equal-size patties.
Place hard-boiled eggs into the center of each patty, rolling beef into a meatball with the egg at the center.
Roll each meatball in flour, then raw egg, then panko bread crumbs.
Lightly fry each ball in vegetable oil, cooking for 1 minute on each side.
Place on a baking tray, and bake at 350 °F for 15 to 20 minutes.
While baking, mix together remaining ingredients to form a dipping sauce.
Slice into halves or quarters and serve hot or cold, with dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy!
